By installing Waste of Time and creating an account, you agree to what follows. It is short, and it is written to be read.
The game
Waste of Time counts the time you spend not opening the app. The longer you stay away, the higher your score climbs. Opening the app logs your score and resets the counter to zero. The leaderboard keeps your best score in a single absence.
The game is free. There are no purchases, no subscriptions, no advertising, and no notifications.
It is a game
Waste of Time rewards you for not opening an app. It does not reward you for ignoring your phone, your work, the people around you, or anything that matters. Do not let a score decide how your day goes.
Your account
You need an account to play, because without one your record would vanish the first time you reinstalled the app.
One account per person. Your nickname is public: pick one that is not insulting, not hateful, not misleading about who you are, and that does not impersonate anyone. A nickname that breaks this rule may be changed or removed.
You are responsible for your password and for what happens under your account.
The server decides the score
Points are worked out entirely on the server, from the server's own clock. The formula is not published, and it will not be.
The following spoil the game and may lead to a score being reset, a player being removed from the leaderboard, or an account being deleted:
- changing your device clock to inflate an absence;
- automating openings, or calling the server from outside the app;
- creating several accounts to crowd the leaderboard;
- attempting to reach other players' data.
The leaderboard
Your nickname and your best score are visible there to other players. If that does not suit you, the only option is not to play, or to delete your account.
Availability
The game is provided as it is, with no guarantee of continuous operation. It may be interrupted, changed or shut down, including for good. If the service is shut down, notice will be given in the app where possible.
To the extent permitted by law, the publisher cannot be held liable for the loss of a score, a record or a ranking.
Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, then Delete my account. It is immediate and final.
An account may be deleted by the publisher in the event of a serious breach of these terms.
Ownership
The name Waste of Time, its visual identity, its code and the contents of the app belong to its publisher. Your nickname and your scores remain yours.
Personal data
How your data is handled is set out in the privacy policy, reachable from the app's settings.
Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. Any significant change will be announced in the app.
Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first; failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction.
